Innovation and Climate Adaptation in San Francisco Bay: How Research, Large-scale Investment, Community Resilience Policy, & Public Education Come Together

Summary: Join us for an interdisciplinary San Francisco Bay Area panel that includes museum educators, climate impact scientists, resilience designers, and governance/policy experts. Participants will share adaptation and engagement approaches that are creating a better future for the Bay and its communities.

Come ready for a lively discussion about:

  • large-scale investment in natural infrastructure
  • a science-based regional shoreline planning initiative based on local physical, social, and ecological characteristics that leverage nature-based solutions
  • inquiry-based approaches to place-based environmental education across age groups, ultimately enabling civic agency
  • innovations in funding, governance, and leadership.

These novel efforts and inter-disciplinary collaborations are models that could be applied elsewhere in coastal California and the world.

Details: Hosted by the Exploratorium, California State Coastal Conservancy, San Francisco Estuary Institute, and SPUR. Light refreshments will be served.

Free and open to the public - RSVP required. Email [email protected], or call 415.528.4444 and choose option 5.
